The Southern Zone

San Buenas Golf Resort is nestled in the foothills of the Talamanca Mountain Range in The Southern Zone of Costa Rica.

We are on the Southern Coastal Road (Coastanera) at km 186, 15 km South of Uvita.

There are many choices of transportation from San Jose to San Buenas;

  • commuter airlines to Palmar Sur (2 flights per day) or
  • Quepos (6 flights per day)
  • bus
  • rental car or
  • private tour bus.

For your first trip to San Buenas we would suggest flying (Sansa or Nature Air) or private tour bus. The flights are only 35 minutes long and we can pick you up at the local airports.

Palmar is only 15 minutes from SBGR and Quepos is 55 minutes.

Tour bus is nice because you get to see some of the beauty of Costa Rica during your trip.
Most tour bus operators speak english and will stop at various "tourist" hot spots along the way.

We recommend Miguel for the tour bus option (

The Osa Peninsula

San Buenas is very tranquil, very peaceful and very "off the beaten path" but there are all the creature comforts within a 15 to 30 minute drive.

The map above shows locations for Banks, Grocery stores and Beaches.

The most picturesque beach you have ever seen is only 15 minutes away from your condo.

When you arrive at the airport in San Jose you will be offered many rides and taxis to your local hotel.

Most hotels have a free shuttle. You should stay at a local hotel when you arrive unless your flight was short and you are leaving San Jose by noon. The drive is 4 hours and can be longer with heavy traffic.

We suggest staying in San Jose the day you arrive. SBGR has an agreement with the Adventure Inn.

The Inn is very Costa-Rican, very clean and very comfortable. The restaurant is first rate (free breakfast) and the hospitality is second to none. On top of all of this it is inexpensive and has free shuttle to and from the airport.

  • Exit tollway just after passing the first toll booth right after passing the town of Orotina;
  • The sign will say highway 34 to Jaco.
  • Stay on pavement – you can't get lost.
  • Stay on 34 past Jaco and continue South passing through Parrita, Quepos, Dominical, Uvita and Ojochal.
  • Watch for a small village named Coronado
  • 2 km south of Coronado you will see the frog on the golf ball signs on top of a bus stop shelter
  • Turn left there, through a small village
